The following project aims to explore and analyse the influences of ER on middle school learners’
lexicon acquisition and motivation to read English texts. The selection falls on three classes from three
linguistic middle school institutions in Udine, namely ‘Uccellis’, ‘Mills’ and ‘Udine International
School’. The study combines qualitative and quantitative research methods with experimental trials and
the adoption of a descriptive survey into ER and ways in which it influences English language acquisition
from a psychological perspective. The results of the proposed study are valuable to education system
administrators as it highlights the need for including the ER program in the curriculum of linguistic
schools in Udine. The outcomes help teachers to identify and choose appropriate ER strategies to enhance
lexicon acquisition. Then, learners also appreciate the effectiveness of ER in improving vocabulary
competence and motivation, thereby engaging in regular ER, which then boost their academic
performance.
The main expectations of this study are that respondents offer adequate, relevant data linking ER with
improved English language proficiency, to provide valuable background information for those interested
in exploring the topic in the future.

Structure:

g) Introduction (follow the one in the proposal I have attached)
h) Review of literature
i) Methodology and research methods
j) Analysis and outcomes/Analysis of professional artefact (here, it is essential that I analyse the findings,
not simply describe them).

l) Conclusions and issues for further research
m) Appendices (The appendices follow the main text and are not included in the word count. They should
include supporting materials (e.g. permission letters, transcripts of discussion, pupil’s work, teacher’s
plans, tapes, tables of results, etc.) or any other evidence which, if included in the main text, would
interrupt the flow).
