You will keep a Critical Reflection Journal throughout the semester. You will create entries based on Six Topics In the course. The Critical Reflection Journal is used to develop your critical thinking skills on the topics the student identifies as important to their graduate work as covered in the course. It serves as a vehicle to deepen your perspective and to increase your breadth and understanding of relevant issues. You may use your nursing experience, material covered cumulatively in the course, related issues reported in the popular press, or observations of health care systems where you work/have worked. When you base your reflection on your personal experience, support your position with factual sources, as available. Continued learning, collegial peer discussion, and critical reflection will, over time, enhance your development as an adult learner and your professional intellectual competence.
• The journal is due as per the syllabus. Create entries as you find topics that interest you. Have all six entries completed by the final due date when you will receive a final grade. The journal captures the key insights from a variety of topics found within the modules of the course.
• A journal entry must be at least 350 words, contain reference to 4 materials found in the selected module of the course. These references must be properly cited in line in the entry and be contained in a reference list at the end. No outside materials are required. You are encouraged to identify any materials from outside the course that are relevant to their entry and assist in relating how personal experiences and outside knowledge are being used to answer the prompt for consideration.
