Section 1: Each student will select TWO Gambling destinations (ONE in the United States + ONE in another country (ex: the Caribbean, Europe, or Asia). Student should select from regions discussed in the Professor’s Week 1 Notes. Student provides a summary of the gaming options in each of the TWO areas. Student provides costs for gaming in each selected area.

Section 2: Student provides an analysis of travel to and from each destination, the lodging options, secondary tourism (options in the area other than gambling), and restaurants in the TWO regions where these selected casinos are located (they should outline BOTH destination areas — price points, diversity of gambling options, quality of casinos and lodging, reputation, demographic of tourists, other secondary tourism alternatives in those areas, etc.).

Section 3: Each student must demonstrate the ability to play all games found in the casinos they chose (Section 1). Students will be required to report on the most popular games in both casino regions. Students must also demonstrate to the instructor the complete knowledge needed to play each game, including a thorough knowledge of the win/drop/hold percentages (provide a summary and analysis of each game outlining each casino advantage).

Section 4: Students discuss marketing strategies used by the selected casino to further enhance their customer base and to attract new clientèle (how do they market themselves?).

Section 5: Student presents a summary of player rating systems and financial controls implemented by casinos. Student also discusses economic impact of casinos on local economies.

.Section 6: Student presents a review of gambling psychology (addiction, treatment, support, etc.)

Scores will be administered (for each student) based on the:

a. Quality of the writing and presentation or capstone research project;
b. Quality of the data and analysis using an appropriate technology;
c. Ability to integrate articles in the context of emerging practices in the gaming sector;
d. Appropriateness of the marketing strategies proposed for the selected casino; and
e. Ability to identify differences between a U.S.-based and an internationally-based gaming operation.
