Cultural Significance of Spicy food to different cultures

Research Paper Specifics:

1200 words, minimum. This does not include the Works Cited page. The Works Cited page should be the final page. If you do not meet the minimum word count, the paper will not pass.
6-10 sources. You must use the library catalog and databases for all of your sources. One of your sources should be a book. The library has a number of ebooks on a wide range of topics. Please let me know if you are having difficulty with this. Wikipedia is not an allowed source.
Sources will also be submitted on Canvas. You must submit copies of your research to submit on Canvas. You need to keep track of your sources and save pdfs as you will turn them in on the day the research paper is due. If you do not submit your research, you will not receive a grade for your research paper.
The essay should contain no more than two block quotes, and the paper can be no more than 20% direct quotes, i.e. the essay should contain your own commentary, reactions, ideas, and arguments.
You must follow MLA 8 format—paper layout, in-text citations, Works
The paper is due on Monday, May 11, with no exceptions.
Submit a topic proposal, which I must approve. Proposals are due Thursday, April 30.
No 2nd person anywhere in the paper. Absolutely minimum amounts of 1st person may be used.
Must follow conventions of standard edited English (a paper with major errors will not pass.)

Elements of Argument: Remember that the elements of argument we have covered this semester are intended to help you argue better. Therefore, I expect to see awareness of the rhetorical situation (Audience, Purpose, Writer), as well as the usage of rhetorical appeals (Ethos, Pathos, and Logos). Additionally, you should use some elements of the different styles of argument (Classical, Rogerian, and Toulmin) in your paper. Finally, your essay should contain some elements of one or more of the types of arguments outlined on the readings page on Canvas. These types of arguments are definition, causal, evaluation, proposal, analogy, and ethical.
