1. HOW THIS RELATED TO THE CORONAVIRUS
Briefly discuss what was happening with COV-19 over the same time period, noting the changes over time (“data still rising”, “reaching the peak”, ‘flattening the curve”). You may want to use the data for Ohio in this brief description (to be found on www.coronavirus.ohio.gov. Something like a graph of hospitalizations and deaths over time could be useful. Note I have not mentioned number of cases, because that relates to testing v lack of testing as well.
2. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOUR SITUATION DUE TO THE VIRUS AND THE ECONOMY
Hopefully, you have kept some record of what has happened to you since February, to give an idea of what it is like to live through the experience of this pandemic. How have the virus and the economy affected you as a student? This is likely to be different if you are an essential worker, laid-off, working from home, or not in the labor force because you are a full-time student. It is also likely to differ because of the situation of your family. For example: has anyone in your family (or a friend) applied for unemployment benefits and/or a small business loan? What was their experience?
3. PUTTING THE CORONAVIRUS AND THE ECONOMY TOGETHER
Briefly describe how the coronavirus has led to the changes in the economy over time, relating it to levels of shut down over time in the states.
4. GOVERNMENT POLICIES
You have discussed and evaluated in your writing assignment what the federal government has done to alleviate the economic problems that now exist. Briefly state here what the Fed is doing and whether it seems to be working.
5. WORRIES GOING FORWARD
This situation is not over, and it is still filled with risk and uncertainty, and the need for decision making. What of the economic changes and likely changes most worries you and why? What do you think can be done about it and why, remembering there are benefits and costs in most of the alternatives? Do you agree with the way Ohio is opening up? If so why? If not, why not?
