MY PERSONAL LIFE EXPERIENCE
Reflective Essay
Case Scenario
The incident I will be reflecting on occurred whilst I was working in a residential home in 2011 As a care assistant. This reflective essay based on an incident that I was directly involved in one of my night shifts. In order to use this incident for my reflective essay, I will refer the client/ service user to Mr. A. in this essay to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
So we had Mr. A in our care who always complained that his only son abandoned him in the care home because he the (son) wanted him to die in order to get hold of his account. Mr. A always in tears most of the time until we give him the emotional support he needed. One day I went for my usual night shift after I had taken the handover I started my night duties as usual. There was no issue of concern throughout the night. I continue my shift in the morning to help with personal care for clients who had already awake.
Finally, I went to check on Mr. A’s to see if he needed assistance to get up he looked a bit distress and began crying, shrieking and hitting his head back against the pillow telling me to leave him to Die. However, I managed to calm him down and assisted him with personal care. Mr. A. refused to be transferred onto the wheelchair provided even though his mobility as he normally does even though mobility. due to safety concerns I put him back into bed informed him that I was going to call for assistance, by the time I came back with assistance, we saw him lying on the floor unresponsive with his duvet around him I. we tried to shout for help and emergency service were called. The senior in charge started a CPR on him. a few moments later the paramedics arrived and upon series of Mr. A. was pronounced DEAD. The paramedics started asking me why Mr. A. was on the floor I explained to them that I assisted him back into bed and was going to call for an assistance Mr. A’s Body was carried into the ambulance The family members were informed and the case was reported to the police, an autopsy was carried out to determine the cause of the death.
