Sex Trafficking or Forced Labor

Research Paper (40 points)

The research paper is your final exam. You must demonstrate that you have read and understood the reading material (book, reports, chapters and articles) assigned throughout the semester. No outside sources allowed.

Choose one of the two topics listed below:
Forced Labor
or
Sex Trafficking

Your paper should address the following:
1. Choose a country or region in which your topic is prevalent. Choose any country that is not the United States as this is an Area 6 UCC course.
2. Definition of concepts and analysis of the complexity of human trafficking: factors that have led to its growth, victims, perpetrators, causes, issues/problems involved, and the movement of human trafficking. You must make clear the relevance and significance of your topic to human trafficking.
3. Description and analysis are the key components of this paper. Analysis requires using the conceptual vocabulary of the course and the reading material assigned throughout the semester.
4. End by identifying what that country or region is doing to address the problem.

Your paper must include the following:

5. Citations and Bibliography: Use APA (American Psychological Association) style. You do not need to provide an abstract. Specifics for APA style are found on the WP library page. You can also use the OWL: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/section/2/

Additional Requirements:
The final paper must be a minimum of 6 pages in length – double spaced – (not including the bibliography), and be well organized. The first paragraph needs to state the intentions of your paper; that is, tell the reader what to expect. Use sub-headings. Be sure to have a summary paragraph at the end. It is imperative that you properly reference all of your sources (authors and page numbers so that I can easily find them). The paper must be in your own words.

Grading will be based on the strength of the argument presented, explanation of concepts, analysis of the complexity of the issue, paraphrasing, proper use of references, and how well you incorporate the material assigned throughout the semester. You should not expect to do well if you have not read the material assigned. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. See syllabus, p. 8.

The final paper is due on Tuesday, May 12. Your paper must be submitted no later than 9PM through the “Assignments” section of Blackboard. Failure to comply will result in lost points.
