Due to Covid 19 the practical will not be possible, so a revised assignment has been written. It is very similar to the original assignment.

The following readings were taken (in sequence) by a survey team (all values in metres)

OBM on Stafford Bridge (AOD 148.321) 1.759
Manhole Cover A in road Change Point 1 1.451
Manhole Cover A in road Change Point 1 2.186
Manhole Cover B 2.472
Manhole Cover C Change Point 2 3.301
Manhole Cover C Change Point 2 1.112
Gas Cover A 2.187
Manhole Cover D Change Point 3 2.664
Manhole Cover D Change Point 3 2.098
Centre of bridge (in road)
Bridge Soffit 1.536
+ 2.955
OBM Trig point on Builders Road 1.555

1 On the Booking Sheet (in the CANVAS module) book all the readings and calculate the Reduced Levels for all of the given points. (Use either Height of Collimation method or Rise and Fall, but not both).

2 On the Booking Sheet also show how you could check your work.

3 Please state if the Levelling work is of sufficient accuracy, and why, giving reason for how this level of accuracy could have been achieved (either positive or negative).

4 Explain how you would complete a field survey using an Automatic level.

5 State what a level survey would be use for?

You are requested to put the above questions into a professional report, which will be given to the line manager for the company you work for. (This is obviously a fictional company for this assessment).

1 On the Traverse Booking Sheet book all the readings and calculate the internal Reduced Angles for all of the stations (A, B and C).

2 Show how you could check your work.

3 Please state if the Traverse is of sufficient accuracy, and why, giving reason for how this level of accuracy could have been achieved (either positive or negative).

4 Explain how you would complete a Traverse survey using a Total Station.

5 State what a Traverse survey would be use for and who would use this information gathered from the survey?

6 Produce a scaled drawing of the traverse you have just completed the calculations for.

You are requested to put the above questions into a professional report, which will be given to the line manager for the company you work for. (This is obviously a fictional company for this assessment).
