Description
The course of this dissertation is Politics & international relations.
My direction/Introduction ( in my dissertation draft)
Will extradition arrangement encourage more cooperation among countries in building a more uniformed standards of human rights law and legal systems? (can add something more like: would it promote global justice? Or will it damage country’s relationships? like the New Zealand case article and the hk article) (You can change the wording if you like)
Some extradition bills exclude certain jurisdictions (e.g. because that Jurisdiction has bad political/legal system). That allows one country to assess other country’s legal/political system. That may affect international relationship. Because if I don’t extradite to you (i.e. or just exclude you), that means I think your system is bad, then you might get embarrassed internationally. So you may try to improve your system. But on the other hand, you may also make enemies.
To conclude, it is unwise to extradite to ‘any country’. But if you only select some countries to extradite, then you are making political assessment of other countries’ system, which may encourage a more uniformed standards across countries, but may also have bad relationship with some countries?
Extradition dispute may have two impacts:
1. Bad – It may damage the relationship between countries
2. Good – It may encourage a country to improve its human rights standards up to international standards
