Assignment Paper

Assessment requirements
You must write a 10,000-word dissertation that uses at least 20 academic sources. Your format will consist of an introduction, literature review, methodology, discussion/results, conclusion, reference list and, where relevant, appendices. Your reference list must be in Harvard style. Likewise, Harvard style citation must be used throughout the dissertation text.

Assignment information

Part 1 (Introduction) and Part 2 (Literature Review) are already written, hence, removed from this brief.

Part 3: Methodology (1500 words)

The methodology section is used to explain which method(s) you have selected to carry out your research question and why. Methodologies are typically qualitative, quantitative or mixed. You are not encouraged to draw on all the methodology units you have had so far. Instead, decide what makes the most sense for your project.
N.B. Not all dissertations are based on primary research. You may be better served to look at what information is already in circulation and determine how this might relate to your specific research question.

Your methodology section should discuss:

1. The methods you are going to use to gather your data (primary or secondary)
a. How the findings of the literature review might have determined the methodology you have selected
b. Can you use elements of the literature review to strengthen your arguments for your research approach/design (e.g. because there are gaps in the literature)?
c. The purpose you have for collecting and analysing the data
2. Discussion of the format of the primary research
For Social Media Analysis: Which platform? Which hashtags? Why? Explain time period? topic? (limitations?)

Part 4: Discussion/Results (3000 words)

In this section you are expected to present your findings after you have gone through and organised the data you have collected. You will not be able to start this section until you have done your data analysis and grouped your findings into intelligible themes.

A strong discussion section will:
1. Begin with an introduction that briefly informs your reader of your findings.
2. Write thematically. It is not very sophisticated to take each question you’ve asked and summarise the answers. You must determine the themes that come out of the answers you receive.
3. Discusses your findings while referencing what you discovered in the literature review. For example, how do your findings compare with what others have found? How do they relate to the literature? Do they further support what exists? Did you find something new? Matching your findings against the literature you have already reviewed will allow you to draw conclusions.
4. Add value to your own results with your own critical comments informed by the research you have already done.
5. Highlight and provide analysis of any new themes that have emerged from your own research

Part 5: Conclusion (1000 words)

This should be a conclusion to the whole project (and not just the research findings).

A strong conclusion will answer the following questions:
• Did your dissertation meet its aims (check back to introduction for stated aims)?
• What are your main findings of the research?
• What are your recommendations in relation to your research question?
• Do you have any conclusions on the research process itself?

• Where should further research be focused?

Part 6: References (Not counted as part your word count!)
Your reference list should follow the Harvard Referencing Guide.
**Practically the same as in previous order, though new references such as Instagram accounts or any other websites used should be added too.**

Part 7: Appendices (Not counted as part your word count!)
Appendices generally follow after your reference list and do not count
as part of your word limit.
In this section, please add all of the Instagram accounts, images used etc.
