GOAL OF SKILLS MASTERY: In the exploration phase of the discussion, your goal is to identify and articulate
your thoughts on creativity according to discussion directions contained in the file below. Essentially, the
purpose of the exploration phase of the discussion is to examine creativity from an academic as well as a
personal standpoint. To accomplish this, you will apply divergent thinking, synthesize information, select a
quotation that encompasses the main message, and establish the significance/relevance of various aspects of
creativity to society as well as to you individually. In the reflection phase of the discussion, you should provide
meaningful interpretive analysis and practice critical thinking skills. In essence, the purpose of this conversation
is to exchange ideas in meaningful ways and, in the end, consider things from multiple perspectives.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: In the exploration phase of the discussion, sifting through the information to identify
and summarize main ideas and key points helps fine-tunes your strategic attention, hones your ability to
prioritize the importance and relevance of information and employs convergent thinking skills. Creating
discussion questions exercises divergent thinking skills. Responding to teammates’ questions and engaging in
ongoing, deepening conversations demonstrate integrated reasoning, synthesis, analysis, and metacognitive
reflection.
