•Emphasize client strengths, supports and abilities
•Name problem outside person using metaphor or client’s language (externalize problem)
•Explore history in the context of learning what effects the problem has had on client and relationships

•Discuss the client’s influence over the problem (how have they made positive changes to fight the problem)
