Course Project Report Requirements
Course Project Requirements: Company Financial/Investment/Employment Analysis REV. 10-10-20
You are to select a publicly held company in which you are interested. Submit the company name and stock ticker symbol. Follow that company’s stock performance during the semester. Report on the performance you observe. Discuss the company’s financial position and make recommendations regarding investment and employment with this company. Your final report must contain the information below.

0. Title Page and Table of Contents:
(a) Report title, (b) Name of the company, (c) Date report submitted, (d) A Table of Contents should be provided at the front of the report following the title page that must contain the report section titles and page numbers. Sections must include those listed below.

1. Introduction:
(a) State the purpose of the project and report. (b) Why did you select the company you selected?

2. Company Description:
(a) What products or services does the company provide? (b) What is the company history (new company, old company, etc.)? (c) What markets does the company serve? (d) Describe any other notable company aspects.

3. Company Analysis:
(a) What are the prospects for the businesses in which the company is involved? Is it a “growth” industry (i.e., microelectronics) or a “mature” industry (i.e., steel making, mining)? (b) How does your company stand in its industry (Is it the industry leader, newcomer, etc.)?

4. Stock Price Spreadsheet and Comments:
(a) Include an Excel graph of the stock performance over time for at least two months.
(b) The graph must be the output of a spreadsheet program and must include dates on the horizontal axis and the stock’s price performance on the vertical axis. Stock performance should include the daily, high, low and closing price. (c) How did the stock perform? You may not just copy and paste this information from the internet. It must be in an Excel spreadsheet that you developed. The data in your spreadsheet can be from a database taken from the internet but you must get it into your spreadsheet and then produce the stock price graph from your spreadsheet data. Please note that every graph, figure, or table should have a number and title and be referred to in the text of the report.

5. Company Financial Analysis:
(a) Show the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss or Income Statement for the company for the most recent year or two that data is available. (b) Calculate ratios discussed on the Financial Analysis Handout and in Appendix B of the course textbook. You must calculate as least on ratio in each or the four categories on the Financial Analysis Handout. (c) Comment on the results achieved.

6. Results and Conclusions:
(a) Do you recommend this company as an investment? Why or why not? (b) Would you recommend that a person accept employment with this company? Why or why not?

7. References:
(a) Include a complete list of references used at the end of the report. Include complete library reference or website reference and date accessed.

The report should be typed, double spaced and at least five pages in length, excluding the Title/Table of Contents, References, tables and figures.

8. Financial Ratios Analysis:

Basic of Financial Statements
The two basic financial statements of a firm are the Balance Sheet and the Income Statement or the Statement of Profit and Loss. The balance sheet is a statement of the financial position of a firm as of a specific point in time. The basic balance sheet equation is: Assets = Liabilities + Net Worth. In the ratio you will add the year, provide the statement of the ratio and what data you used to calculate the ratio, and where you got the ratio from. Also provide the current ratio = x/y. What is X where did you get it? What is Y where did you get it?

Use the publicly traded company named (NASDAQ) that has ticker symbol, (NDAQ).
