For Essay 4, students have a choice. You can do choice A, B, or C as explained in the handout. If you choose A, you explain one of the topics covered in Ch 14
of our Patterns text- climate change; free speech (and trigger warnings and safe spaces) on college campuses; reducing gun violence; or whether the Federal
government should forgive student loans. You do not argue your position on the issue, but you explain the issue to your reader using the introductory material
explaining each issue (e.g., pg 576-577); the introduction to each individual essay (e.g., pg 578); material from the essays themselves, and any information
you can bring to the topic. You do not have to do any research. If you make this choice, you will be writing an Explanatory Synthesis- as described in Ch of our
WIT text- the same type of essay students are writing for our Major Report.
In this case, you are doing a student loan. Shoot me a message if you have any questions. The Should government forgive student loans 1,2,3 is the example
on pages 576-577
