Proposal for Program-Related Essay:
Product Marketing: Providing False Information to Increase Sales of Products and Services.
Statement of purpose
My discipline of interest is Economics. Economics involves making use of scarce resources to produce essential products to deliver to people. Marketing a product to make customers buy the product includes marketing and advertising strategies where some individuals will give false information to overrate a product. I will explore the arguments towards incorrect information about a product and support my position that it is essential while introducing a new product on the market.
Approach
My approach will be to support the use of false information about a product in marketing. This is an area that some have different strategies for different people based on moral and marketing and advertising ethics grounds. The main method that I will use to support my position will involve a literature review of various articles on lying about products in marketing. Additionally, another method I may use is to interview or survey people on their opinion on the controversial topic. Therefore, most of my arguments to support my position will be based on information from previous literature on lying in marketing and possibly the responses from an interview or a questionnaire.
Outcome
Ultimately, my goal is to support the approach of using false information about a product to introduce it in the market. While some people argue against them based on moral grounds about lying, we forget that it is important to tell people what they want to hear but in a controlled way. For sure, managers can use the approach to enable that a product does well in the market but should be done with moderation.
