The glamorization of today’s unrealistic beauty standard and how it has affected many of our younger generations, in comparison to the standards when media and plastic surgery wasn’t as popularized many years ago
My essay is about the glamorization of today’s unrealistic beauty standard and how it has affected many of our younger generations, in comparison to the standards when media and plastic surgery wasn’t as popularized many years ago. Cosmetic surgery has become the ordinary, social media being a main factor can create an environment where one may feel they need to look “perfect”. The constant exposure to edited and photoshopped images on platforms like instagram, can create a toxic new standard. These unhealthy beauty standards can cause young individuals to feel insecure about their appearance but can also can lead to many more health issues like eating disorders or even depression. In the past, there was less exposure to these beauty ideals, people had been more accepting of natural appearances compared to now where we have unrealistic beauty standards due to social media, photoshop and plastic surgeries. ( This is just a summary of what I want my essay to be about, I’ve link the rubrics and clearer instructions) Also it’d be great if you linked sources that can easily be found on google 🙂
